Even the most dedicated naturals in their natural hair journey have bad hair days sometimes. I have been natural for almost 2 years now and know a lot about what my locks do and don’t like and still have a good amount of bad hair days. I am actually experiencing one right now, because I am sick and currently too lazy to put some time into my natural hair!
Keep reading for 3 simple ways you can salvage bad hair days as a curly natural. These styles are so simple and can be done by anyone!
Note: these methods work for all hair types.
Natural Hair Hacks: 3 simple ways to salvage bad hair days
1. Braid 2 cornrows
The first way us naturals can turn bad hair days into good ones is to put our hair in my signature lazy natural hair style: 2 cornrows down the back of my head.
This hairstyle can be done by any natural.
All you need is a spray bottle (if your hair is dry), some leave-in conditioner or styling milk and a comb to make your part!
This style is also great for bad hair days because it takes no longer than 10 minutes to do. Also, with practice, this time will get shorter. It takes me short of 5 minutes to do this style on my hair.
This hair style is also so good for bad hair days because it is a protective style. Protective styles are vital in any natural’s natural hair journey. They are necessary in order to give our curls a break so they can grow faster and healthier.
Another good thing about this style is that if you do it good enough, you can take out the braids in a day or 2 for a braidout. Thats 3 days of hair styles right there!

2. Put on wig w/ hat or scarf (or any hair accessory)
This way to save your natural bad hair days is amazing because it will give you a whole new look!
The style is just as easy as the first one, except you need to know how to cornrow smaller braids.
The style: putting on a full lace wig, then putting a cap/hat/wrap over the top of the wig.
I mention putting an accessory on the wig because this way if you do this, you won’t have to worry about having perfectly braided braids under the wig. Why? because the head accessory will cover the lack of your braiding if you wear it the right way.
I usually keep my two braids when I am having a bad hair day, then just put something over my head. You can check out my instagram for ideas with how to wear a quick-install wig!

3. Scarf turned into head wrap
This natural hairstyle for salvaging bad hair days is also one of my favorites because 1) it is a protective style and 2) this style, in my opinion takes the shortest of the 3.
There are soooo many ways you can turn a scarf into a pretty head wrap. For some ideas, checkout my Pinterest, under my natural hair styles board. There’s multiple pins on how you can turn any scarf into just about any head wrap you can imagine!
I hope these 3 natural hair styles will help you to never have a bad hair day again!
